BS4C at OMCA

The BlueSkies Parent Committee invites you to join us at “Friday Nights at OMCA” on August 23! Enjoy food trucks, music, and fun with the whole family. You can find more information and a full schedule of events here

We will meet up in the garden courtyard area in the middle of OMCA, starting around 5 pm. We recommend bringing a blanket, since bench seating is limited. There is food and drink available to buy, but you are also welcome to bring your own.

Parking is available on the street (free parking after 6pm) or in the museum lot for $5 per hour - (located on Oak Street between 10th and 12th Streets). The AC Transit bus line #14 (which passes in front of BlueSkies) also stops 2 blocks from the OMCA at Oak Street.

Please RSVP here or reach out to Hannah and Molly. We look forward to seeing you there!

Race and Young Children

Haneefah Shuaibe-Peters Ed. D (Dr. Peters) will be discussing what’s going on for children developmentally when they ask questions or make statements about race, and how we can best respond to support our children’s growing identities and understanding.

Dr. Peters has worked in the field of early education for over 19 years (including at BlueSkies!). She holds a Masters in Early Childhood Education and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from San Francisco State University. She also has an extensive background in leading ECE programs, parent education, and community college instruction. Her specialty areas include infant toddler care, preschool environments, parent education, and professional development. Asa Bay Area native and mother of two, she is most passionate about providing ECE professionals with practical tools for providing excellent care to young children, while also supporting the families they serve.

Dinner will be provided, as will childcare on request. Please email if you need child care.
