HedCo Open House
This meeting is a chance to meet other parents in your class group and the HedCo program. It's also an opportunity to see your child's classroom and to learn about the curriculum. You get to hear how Head Teachers individualize their teaching and interaction with each child, and you will have the opportunity to ask questions about the program.
Pizza & childcare will be provided with RSVP. Please email reception. Last day to sign up for child care will be October 2.

Fall Community Picnic
BS4C Fall Picnic
When: Saturday October 4 2025 | 10am - 2pm
Where: Roberts Regional Recreation Area
Parking: A $5 parking fee per vehicle inside the gate (waved if you have a regional seasonal pass!).
What: This is fully BYOP! Bring the family and a picnic! If you have any lawn games or bubble makers to provide mass child amusement, please bring =). We’ll all group picnic on the ample lawn space adjacent to the (massive!) playground. Bathroom facilities are clean and there is also water refill stations.

Nursery School Open House

Parent Conferences (Nursery School)
Each family will select an hour-long slot in the schedule to meet with the Head Teacher in their classroom to discuss your child’s developmental schedule and progress, and to hear from you about how things are going at home.

Kinder Talk Part 1
The first of our Kindergarten Talk series covers what BlueSkies does to prepare children and readiness for kindergarten and the process of choosing a kindergarten.

The second part of our Kindergarten Talk series is a panel discussion with alumni parents about the transition to kindergarten and how they chose the schools they did.

Family Education Event: Tantrums
LMFT Maggie Pantoni and Program Director Ameena Muhammed co-host a discussion about tantrums: What is going on in a child’s brain when this happens? How can we respond? Childcare available on a limited basis; RSVP to secure your spot now!




Staff Development Day
Staff will be talking about the state of the school, reviewing our Workplace Violence Prevention Plan and Emergency Procedures, organizing shared storage spaces, and taking two trainings: Talking About Differences with Dr. Shuaibe-Peters and First Steps to Planning for Your Financial Future with alumni parent Tsegereda Berhe, founder of Algu Roots.

Parent Education: Picky Eating
Please join us as Executive Director Christa Edwards discusses the BlueSkies philosophy of meals, eating, and nutrition with young children, and speech language pathologist Paige Bailey discusses typical picky eating and when a referral might be in order.

Summer Program Starts (Nursery School)
First day of Summer Program in the Nursery School!

Nursery School Summer Set-Up Day
Playroom, Homeroom, and Schoolroom close at noon for Summer set-up. HedCo classrooms (Baby House, Wobbly Walkers, and Todds) are open full regular hours.

Gwen Jackson Park Clean Up
Join fellow BlueSkies families and neighbors for a fun and meaningful afternoon at Gwen Jackson Park—just a block from school! Hosted by Sunanna and Sam (MaeMae’s parents), this gathering is a chance to connect, clean up, and care for a neighborhood kid-friendly space.
Location: Gwen Jackson Park, Oakland, CA
Details: We’ll bring music, drinks, and supplies. Come to tidy up or simply hang out—either way, you’re welcome! Plus, cleanup counts toward BlueSkies volunteer hours.
Let’s help make this park a safe, beautiful, and joyful place for kids.
