BlueSkies Parent Community

BlueSkies for Children has always been shaped by the parents who help to create a community that serves both children and parents. BlueSkies parents organize fundraising events and organize educational, social, and support services for families. Parents are often the best support for other parents at BlueSkies; getting involved in the community creates those connections.

To facilitate participation by working parents in the life of BlueSkies, childcare is always provided for committee meetings and events. Meetings include a simple meal for children and parents, and take place as soon as the children’s programs close at 6 p.m., so that everyone can participate and still be home in time for a snuggle before bedtime.

Families for BlueSkies Community

In partnership with the BlueSkies administration, Families for BlueSkies Community acts as the hub of our vibrant parent community. Families for BlueSkies Community organizes social activities such as picnics and potlucks, as well as formal workshops, often bringing in experts in the field of child development. Examples of past workshops include Choosing a Kindergarten; Discipline, Development, and Daily Life; Raising Multiracial Children; and Temperament. The group also organizes Room Parents, who welcome new parents and organize classroom gatherings outside of school. If you would like more information, or you’d like to join, please e-mail the committee here: psc@blueskies4children.org

With support from the BlueSkies Administration this committee is also responsible for the Fall Mailer and the Spring Auction. These activities directly support the scholarships available at BlueSkies for Children. If you would like more information, or if you’re interested in joining the committee, please e-mail the committee here: fundraising@blueskies4children.org
