Managing digital media and ‘screen time’

This interactive workshop, led by Dr Alicia Blum-Ross, will look at some of the opportunities and challenges of raising small children in a digital age. The evening will include insights from the latest research and recommendations on ‘screen time,’ and time for sharing experiences, questions, and the chance to reflect on your own family values around media and technology use.

The aim is for parents to leave prepared with practical ideas about how to foster family connections, and to avoid ‘screen time’ conflicts.

Alicia is the mother of Abe & Penny in the Schoolroom, and is a researcher at the London School of Economics & Political Science and a Visiting Scholar at UC Berkeley. She is currently writing a book (Parenting for a Digital Future, Oxford University Press),  and a blog – www.parenting.digital – which rounds up research on children, families and media from around the world. She also conducts research on digital literacy and makerspaces in the Bay Area.
