Don’t know the difference between a will and a trust?  You will after this parent education event.  If you have kids and/or own property here in California, it’s important to learn about estate planning and the best tools available to avoid mandatory probate fees in the event that you or your partner experience an untimely death. In this program, the attendees will get an overview of the basic concepts, documents and processes that comprise probate and estate planning and how to best prepare your family. You’ll also learn the benefits of having a will or a trust.  We’ll cover what comprehensive estate planning looks like and methods to DYI it too.

Presenter, Lee Maranto, is the principle attorney at Maranto Law.  Maranto Law is focused on providing legal services to low- and modest-income clients in the areas of estate planning, probate litigation and criminal law.  Lee’s previous career was in higher education at multiple campuses in the UC system where he worked in student affairs and student disciplinary matters, including Title IX cases.  Lee has undergraduate degrees in Community Studies and Politics from UC Santa Cruz and a JD from Golden Gate University School of Law.  Lee lives in Oakland with his partner Keely and their daughter Mia, where they enjoy hiking outdoors and watching movies.
